楽劇「ワルキューレ」交響組曲

「ニーベルングの指環」は、ドイツの作曲家リヒャルト・ワーグナー（1813-1883）による4つの叙事詩オペラの連作で、北欧の武勇伝やニーベルンゲンの物語に登場する人物をモチーフにした作品である。

序夜「ラインの黄金」第1夜「ワルキューレ」第2夜「ジークフリート」第3夜「神々の黄昏」の4部に渡る作品のスケールは群を抜いて壮大で、全世界を支配する魔法の指輪をめぐる、神々、英雄、神話上の生き物たちの争いが描かれます。

この編曲は、オランダの編曲家クリスティアン・ヤンセンによるもので、「ワルキューレ」をもとに交響組曲としてまとめられました。

'Der Ring des Nibelungen' (The Ring of the Nibelung) is a cycle of four epic operas by German composer Richard Wagner (18131883). The works are based loosely on characters from the Norse sagas and the Nibelungenlied. 'Das Rheingold' is the first opera in the cycle and Wagner described this opera as a 'Vorabend' (preliminary evening) with 'Die Walk re', 'Siegfried' and 'G tterd mmerung' as the proper Ring. The scale and scope of the story is epic. It follows the struggles of gods, heroes, and several mythical creatures over the eponymous magic Ring that grants domination over the entire world. The drama and intrigue continue through three generations of protagonists, until the final cataclysm at the end of 'G tterd mmerung'. Dutch arranger Christiaan Janssen made a Symphonic Suite of 'Die Walk re'.
