1914年、アメリカの作曲家E.E.バグリーによって書かれた行進曲「国民の象徴」は、長年にわたり式典や行事で親しまれてきた名曲です。堂々としたファンファーレ、力強いマーチ主題、そして優美な中間部が織りなすコントラストは、洗練された高揚感を与えます。
本アレンジでは原曲の華やかさを活かしつつ、金管五重奏に最適化。演奏時間は約3分とコンパクトで、中高生にも無理なく取り組める難易度です。コンサートのオープニングやアンコールはもちろん、部活動や地域のイベントなど、幅広い場面で気軽に楽しめる一曲となっています。（井澗昌樹）

井澗昌樹(Masaki Itani)

大阪教育大学教養学科芸術専攻音楽コース卒業。同大学大学院芸術文化専攻修了。作曲を澤田博、北川文雄の両氏に師事。

主な作品に、バリトン独唱と管弦楽のためのカンタータ「倭建命 流離譚」、トランペット八重奏曲「四季の奏鳴」など。吹奏楽作品に、「火の断章」（2008年度全日本吹奏楽コンクール課題曲）、「Bye Bye Violet」、「愛の祭壇」など。

Composed in 1914 by American composer E. E. Bagley, March “National Emblem” has long been a beloved staple at ceremonies and public events. Its stately fanfares, powerful march theme, and graceful middle section create striking contrasts that deliver a refined sense of uplift.
