Migratory bird（ミグラトリー・バード）
菅野力デビュー10周年記念リサイタルツアーの作品公募企画のために作曲。募集テーマである「出発」「旅立ち」「希望」から、大空を駆ける渡り鳥を連想し「Migratory bird」と題しました。
冒頭は、朝靄のかかる水面の穏やかな湖にて静かに出発の覚悟を決める渡り鳥を表し、そこから仲間との飛行、そして激しい嵐を乗り越え、終盤はまだ見ぬ景色へと力強く羽ばたいて行く様子を表現しています。
菅野力さんのフルートの音色は透き通るように美しく、また豊かな息遣いを感じたため、歌うようなフレーズを随所に取り入れる事を意識し、特に123小節目から134小節目の間は一音一音、音価の長い旋律を入れて、力強い高音が響くようにイメージしました。
またフルーティストとピアニストの双方がアンサンブルの楽しさを味わえるよう、両パートのメロディの入れ替わりやリズムの噛み合い方等を工夫しています。(荒井亮介)

MIGRATORY BIRD
I composed this piece for the open call for works for Chikara Kanno's 10th anniversary recital tour, and titled this piece "Migratory Bird" because the themes of "departure," "setting off on a trip," and "hope" for the open call made me picture a migratory bird soaring through the sky.
The beginning depicts a migratory bird silently making the decision to depart on a misty morning near a calm lake with a still surface. The song then moves on to the bird's flight as part of a flock and need to overcome a rough storm before progressing to the ending, which captures the bird soaring powerfully into a previously unseen view.
The tone of Chikara Sugano's flute is beautiful with a transparent feeling. Since I also felt that he incorporates a variety of breathing techniques, I made an effort to incorporate phrases that are similar to singing throughout the piece. Particularly between bars 123 and 134, I only included melodies with high note value in an attempt to allow high tones to ring out powerfully.
In addition, since I wanted the flutist and pianist to both enjoy the ensemble, I made special arrangements for the melodies for each part to switch and for the rhythms to mesh with each other.
