土気シビックウインドオーケストラの23枚目のアルバム収録にあたり2019年に作曲された「Crossfire - November 22」を、玉名女子高等学校の依頼により大幅に改訂し、コンクールでもカットなしで演奏できるよう凝縮。1963年11月22日から60年を経てもなお多くの不可解な謎を残し、数々の著作やドキュメンタリー、劇映画の題材になってきた世紀の大事件を音楽で描きました。

冒頭は讃美歌「God Be With You Till We Meet Again」にはじまり、謎と陰謀が渦巻くAllegroへ。ケネディの無念さを表現したAdagioを経て、ケネディ氏の記憶の中をアメリカ国歌を演奏する軍楽隊が通過していく様子が走馬灯のように描かれ、強奏のコラールと細かいパッセージによって、希望や無念が入り混じった心情を表現し、再びテンポはAllegroとなって謎を残し、曲は幕を閉じます。

樽屋雅徳(Masanori Taruya)

1978年千葉県銚子市生まれ。武蔵野音楽大学音楽学部作曲学科卒業。佐藤博、宮本良樹各氏に師事。

フランスで吹奏楽曲「Ardent Overture」を出版。代表作として「絵のない絵本」「民衆を導く自由の女神」「マゼランの未知なる大陸への挑戦」「ラザロの復活」「マードックからの最後の手紙」などがある。

全国の吹奏楽団やマーチングバンドからの委嘱も数多く、その作品の多くが国内外問わず広く演奏され、日本でもっとも人気のある作曲家のひとりである。また、作曲・編曲の傍ら、吹奏楽指導やコンクール等の審査員、執筆活動などでも多くの成果を挙げている。

2004年～2018年まで銚子市立銚子高等学校の音楽監督を務めマーチングコンテストで全国大会へ、吹奏楽コンクールでは東関東大会、東日本大会へと導く。

現在はベルモンテウィンドオーケストラの指揮者・音楽監督を務め、指導者としても高い評価を受けている。

Based on a request from the Tamana Girls High School Wind Orchestra, I made significant revisions to the song "Crossfire November 22," which was composed in 2019 by the TOKE CIVIC Wind Orchestra as they recorded their 23rd album. I reduced it in length so that it can be played in its entirety during musical competitions. Through this music, I portrayed the defining moment of the century that has spawned countless books, documentaries, and historical dramas and continues to leave numerous mysteries unsolved even now, after over 60 years have passed since November 22nd, 1963.

The song begins with the hymn "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" before transitioning to an Allegro that is shrouded in mystery and intrigue. Next is an Adagio that captures Kennedy's sorrow, followed by his recollection of a military band's rendition of "The StarSpangled Banner" as life flashes before his eyes. Mixed feelings of hope and regret are depicted by a loud chorale and an elaborate passage before the tempo returns to Allegro to close out the song with a lingering sense of mystery.
