光焔の鼓動
渋谷教育学園幕張高等学校吹奏楽部およびフォスターミュージック株式会社の委嘱により、2023年に作曲。
毎年1～2月頃、奈良の若草山や伊豆の大室山では伝統的に「山焼き」と呼ばれる行事が開催されています。文字通り、山をまるごと焼き上げるのです。その起源は諸説あるものの、炎が山全体を駆け上がる様子は大変壮大なもので、春を迎える儀式として今も親しまれているそうです。この風習に興味を持ち、音楽での表現を目指しました。また、山焼きの激しい様子、そしてそれが大きな力を伴って季節を突き動かすような印象から、「光焔の鼓動」というタイトルをつけました。
曲は大まかに「緩-急-緩」の3つの部分に分かれ、それぞれ「静かな冬の山」「山焼き、燃え盛る炎」「春の到来、芽吹き」といった場面をイメージしており、全体としては冬から春への季節の移り変わりを描くような構成となっています。季節を突き動かす炎の力強さや、情景の変化を感じながら演奏していただければ幸いです。（近藤礼隆）

近藤礼隆(Noritaka Kondo)
1995年埼玉県東松山市生まれ、千葉県柏市育ち。渋谷教育学園幕張高等学校、東京藝術大学音楽学部音楽環境創造科を卒業。
作曲を植野洋美、西岡龍彦の各氏に、音楽理論を故・山口博史氏に師事。
これまでに、第33回朝日作曲賞入選（2024年度全日本吹奏楽コンクール課題曲採用）、第52回JBA「下谷賞」受賞、21世紀の吹奏楽 第22回“響宴”入選、第12回日本管打・吹奏楽学会作曲賞佳作。アニメーション映像やオーディオドラマなど、音楽を担当した作品も多数。
好きな作曲家は伊福部昭とスティーヴ・ライヒ。

FLAMES OF SPRING
I composed this piece in 2023 after being commissioned by the Shibuya Makuhari Wind Orchestra and fostermusic Inc.
Around January or February every year, a traditional event called “Yamayaki” (mountain burning) is held on Mt. Wakakusa in Nara and Mt. Omuro in Izu. As its name suggests, it involves burning an entire mountain to the ground. While there are various theories about its origin, the sight of flames consuming an entire mountain is quite spectacular, and it remains a popular ritual to herald the arrival of spring. I was intrigued by this custom and wanted to capture it through music. Also, the intense spectacle of “Yamayaki” and the impression of it driving the seasons with great vigor led me to title the piece “Flames of Spring.”
The piece is roughly divided into three sections (slow, fast, slow), which respectively evoke the scenes of a peaceful mountain in winter, a burning mountain with blazing flames, and the arrival of spring with sprouting buds, with the overall composition portraying the shifting of the seasons from winter to spring. I hope you can perform this piece while feeling the power of the flames that drive the seasons and the changes in the surrounding landscape.
