1982年東京都生まれ。東京音楽大学卒業、桐朋学園大学研究科を経て東京芸術大学大学院修士課程修了。これまでに作曲を有馬礼子、池辺晋一郎、糀場富美子、権代敦彦、安良岡章夫の各氏に師事。第1回全日本吹奏楽連盟作曲コンクール第1位受賞。

クラシック、現代音楽を中心に作曲活動をしてきたが、2009年全日本吹奏楽コンクール課題曲「躍動する魂」の作曲以後、吹奏楽作品を多く作曲、各社より録音、出版されている。

VIRTUAL MOON：Composer: Daisuke EHARA

Composed as a commissioned piece by Vive! Saxophone Quartet. This piece consists of two movements featuring different musical motifs, with the first movement entitled "Dreamscape" and the second movement entitled "Awakening."

The first movement opens with the feeling of being suspended in space through the use of the halfdiminished seventh chord (also known as the minor seventh flat five chord or the halfdiminished chord). The piece then proceeds through a section without a clear key before settling down into a definitive G minor key, from which the music starts to unfold. The respective notes bear a close relationship with each other and give rise to countless echoes. The word "Dreamscape" is used to draw attention to the beauty, ephemeral nature, and faint memories associated with this movement.

The second movement, "Awakening," is both lively and intense. It wanders between the real and the surreal by employing explosive energy, emotion, and unstable notes in a tonal system.

While the title does not seek to establish an absolute image, the moon is both a symbol of beauty and associated with lunacy.

The contrast between the two movements that differ in their very nature, as well as in their tonality/atonality, brings to mind something that exists despite not really existing. I have attempted to capture this through the word "virtual," and I have thus named the piece "Virtual Moon."
