行進曲「岩木」

　作曲者は少年時代を青森県で過ごしました。この曲は県にゆかりのある作曲家として、1977年に青森県下で開催された第32回国民体育大会「あすなろ国体」のテーマ曲のために委嘱され作曲された作品です。タイトルの「岩木」とは、青森県西部、津軽平野の南西部にある標高1625メートルの名峰「岩木山」（「津軽富士」とも呼ばれる）から取られています。そして霊峰として津軽の人々の山岳信仰の対象とさ
れてきました。
　曲の主部は西洋風のマーチですが、トリオ部分は津軽地方に古くから伝わる岩木山への「お山参詣」の囃子歌「登山囃子」が用いられています。収穫の感謝を込めて山に登る道すがら「さいぎ、さいぎ、どっこいさいぎ...」と唱え歌うメロディーが、勇敢な太鼓のリズムと共に繰り返し出てきて、このマーチの魅力になっています。
　なお今回の出版に際し、原典版には入っていなかったOboe、Bassoon、String Bassを新たに加えた他、2パートであったTromboneを3パートへ変更し、再構成されました。
Mamiya was born in Hokkaido in 1929 and spent his childhood in Aomori. Because of his connection to the region he was commissioned to compose this march for the 32nd National Sp orts Competition “Asunaro Kokutai” in Aomori in 1977.
The title, “IWAKI”, references the 1625m tall mountain Mt. Iwaki (also known as Tsugaru Fuji) which is located southwest of the Tsugaru plain. Historically, the Tsugaru people worshiped the mountain in the Tozanbayashi festival.
This march presents a fusion of the modern and the traditional in recognition of Iwaki. The main part of this piece features a western sounding march theme, contrasted against Tozanbayashi melodies, traditionally performed on Japanese flutes and drums, in the trio.
