第2楽章は”ロンドン・アイ”。ロンドンが一望できる巨大観覧車の名前です。ゆったりしたメロディーがさまざまな楽器で繋がれていくさまは、観覧車がゆっくりゆっくり動き、少しずつ変わっていく風景を表すのでしょうか。時代が変わる切なさも感じさせるパートです。

第3楽章は”コンジェスチョン・チャージ”。ロンドンのひどい渋滞を緩和するため、導入されたシステムですが、それでもロンドンの渋滞はひどい模様。クラクション、いらつき、喧騒など、ロンドンの日常が表現されます。

New London Pictures is a threemovement work that takes as its theme different aspects of modern London.

'Millennium Bridge' describes the pedestrian’s journey across this wonderful new landmark over the Thames, starting at the imposing Tate Modern,crossing the busy river, and onwards to St.Paul’s Cathedral with its bells ringing out over the great city.

The 'London Eye' is the large ferris wheel that is situated on the South Bank of the River Thames. This movement depicts a “flight” on this riverside wheel, at the top of which we see the whole of London spread out beneath us.

The Mayor of London, Ken Livingston, introduced the congestion charge to London in the early part of 2003. This movement, 'Congestion Charge', is selfexplanatory here are Londoners attempting to go about their business in the face of overwhelming odds...
