組曲「カテリーナ・イズマイロヴァ（ムツェンスク郡のマクベス夫人）」Op.114a

「ムツェンスク郡のマクベス夫人」として1934年1月22日に初演され大好評を博し、世界的に大成功を収めましたが、1936年1月に観劇にきたスターリンの逆鱗に触れ、その後20年以上ものあいだ上演が禁止されていました。
その後1956年に「カテリーナ・イズマイロヴァ」として改訂され、1963年1月8日の初演でも成功を収めました。
各場面の間に小さな間奏曲が挟まれており、その中から5つを集めて再編されたのがこの作品114aです。

III. Largo (entr'acte between scenes 4 and 5)
