前奏曲「このほとり」

ほとりに立って、滔々と流れる川の様をある一点から見つめると云う行為は、膨大な時間の流れの中でわずかに触れ合う機会のあった人々の生を垣間見ることに似ています。人間が自然を美しいと言うのは何だかおこがましい感じがして好きではないのですが、今その時が穏やかに流れていくということは、ただそれだけで素晴らしいことなのだと感謝せずにはいられません。

大竹ライオンズクラブの委嘱により、慈しみと希望を込めて作曲しました。タイトルに含まれる「この」とは連体詞ではなく、木野川から引用したものです。平成27年2月15日、大竹市民吹奏楽クラブによって初演されました。(井澗昌樹)

大阪教育大学教養学科芸術専攻音楽コース卒業。同大学大学院芸術文化専攻修了。作曲を澤田博、北川文雄の両氏に師事。

主な作品に、バリトン独唱と管弦楽のためのカンタータ「倭建命 流離譚」、トランペット八重奏曲「四季の奏鳴」など。吹奏楽作品に、「火の断章」（2008年度全日本吹奏楽コンクール課題曲）、「Bye Bye Violet」、「愛の祭壇」など。

PRELUDE ALONG THE RIVER：Composer: Masaki ITANI

Otake is a city in southwestern Hiroshima prefecture that is located along its border with Yamaguchi prefecture. The Oze River which flows along this prefectural border was also known as the Kono River in Aki province during the feudal period, a name that has persisted among local residents today. Although this area was at the forefront of battles during the Choshu War and had suffered the ravages of war in its long history, none of that can be discerned today in the Heisei period as it has become a place where time ticks by in a charming and peaceful manner.

Standing along the banks of this river and observing its flowing water from a single spot is akin to having brief glimpses of the lives of people who had only a few opportunities of encountering each other in the epic passage of time. I do not particularly enjoy it when people suggest that nature is beautiful because of how presumptuous that sounds, although I cannot help but appreciate how wonderful the gentle passage of time is at every single moment.

This piece was commissioned by the Otake Lions Club, which I have composed by drawing on the feelings of compassion and hope. The "Kono" in its Japanese title does not mean "this," but is a reference to the "Kono River." The piece was premiered by the Otake Citizens' Brassband Club on February 15th, 2015.
