歌劇「魔笛」序曲
「魔笛」は、W.A.モーツァルトが晩年（1791年）に書いたオペラ（ジングシュピール）です。現在でもモーツァルトのオペラの中では一番の人気があります。この曲はそんなオペラを代表する有名な序曲です。ダブルリード（オーボエ、バスーン）にソロやソリが多いですが、他の楽器で代用できるようにしてあります。
金管は、原曲ではホルン2本、トランペット2本ですが、通常の吹奏楽編成に合わせ、ホルン4本、トランペット3本としました。
トロンボーンは原曲も3本ですが、あまり音が高くならないように金管セクション内で再構成しました。
また、原曲ではパーカッションはティンパニだけですが、オプションで、バスドラムと鍵盤楽器を入れてあります。
ティンパニについても元々は2台用ですが、3台用に音（括弧内）を追加しました。
The Magic Flute, composed in 1791, is widely regarded as Mozart’s most famous opera.
This arrangement of the overture expands onthe instrumentation of a classical orchestra to take advantage of the contemporary wind ensemble.
Solos for oboe and bassoon are cued into other parts, trumpet and horn sections expanded and a third timpani added to the percussion.
