グレースフル・レガシィ～往古の夢幻
この作品は、海上自衛隊舞鶴音楽隊の委嘱により2023年に作曲され、翌年2024年2月17日、「第58回海上自衛隊舞鶴音楽隊 定期演奏会」において岡崎恵一氏の指揮のもと、同楽団により初演されました。タイトルの「グレースフル・レガシィ 往古の夢幻」は、京都の雅な伝承と歴史をテーマにしています。舞台となる舞鶴は軍港として栄えた土地であり、音楽にはその勇壮さと土地独特の風土が色濃く反映されています。和の印象を持つこの曲には、フルートによる笛のような響きや日本の音階を用いたフレーズ、そして笙の音色を模した和音が随所に取り入れられています。
曲は明確な場面転換を伴い、冒頭のソロが静寂の中から音楽を導き出します。続いて木管群によってテーマが提示され、物語が次第に展開していきます。その後、音楽は激しい波動を伴いながら進行し、大きな渦のような力強さを見せます。やがて嵐が過ぎ去ると静けさが訪れ、後半には再びテーマが現れ、美しい風景や穏やかな情景を映し出します。締めくくりには、力強く華やかな大団円を迎えます。
【和楽器について】
この曲では締太鼓と神楽鈴を採用していますが、代替としてBongoとSleigh Bellsが指定されています。楽器が調達できない場合は、代わりになる楽器を用いて演奏してください。（江原大介）

江原大介(Daisuke Ehara)
1982年東京都生まれ。東京音楽大学卒業、桐朋学園大学研究科を経て東京芸術大学大学院修士課程修了。これまでに作曲を有馬礼子、池辺晋一郎、糀場富美子、権代敦彦、安良岡章夫の各氏に師事。第1回全日本吹奏楽連盟作曲コンクール第1位受賞。
クラシック、現代音楽を中心に作曲活動をしてきたが、2009年全日本吹奏楽コンクール課題曲「躍動する魂」の作曲以後、吹奏楽作品を多く作曲、各社より録音、出版されている。

GRACEFUL LEGACY：Composer: Daisuke EHARA
This piece was composed in 2023 at the request of the Maizuru Maritime SelfDefense Force Band and premiered on February 17, 2024, during the “58th Regular Concert of the Maizuru Maritime SelfDefense Force Band,” conducted by Keiichi Okazaki. The title, “Graceful Legacy” reflects its theme centered on the elegant traditions and history of Kyoto. Maizuru, the setting for this work, is a city that thrived as a naval port, and the music vividly incorporates its heroic spirit and unique local characteristics.
The composition carries a distinct Japanese impression through elements such as flute melodies resembling traditional Japanese flutes, phrases based on Japanese scales, and harmonies imitating the sound of the sh (a traditional Japanese instrument). The piece unfolds with clear scene transitions, beginning with a solo that emerges from silence. The woodwinds then present the main theme, gradually developing into a narrative. The music progresses with intense waves of energy, culminating in a powerful whirlpoollike force before calming down as the storm subsides. In the latter half, the theme reappears, depicting beautiful landscapes and serene expressions, ultimately concluding with a grand and vibrant finale.
About Traditional Instruments
This piece incorporates shimedaiko (a type of Japanese drum) and kagura suzu (a type of bell used in Shinto rituals). However, substitutes such as bongos for shimedaiko and sleigh bells for kagura suzu are specified. If these traditional instruments are unavailable, alternative instruments should be used for performance.
