氷の城：下田和輝 [吹奏楽極小編成-レンタル譜]

氷の城

舞台はノルウェーの雪に閉ざされた田舎町。ある時、11歳の少女シスが通う学校に、同じ年の少女ウンが転入してきます。二人は距離を縮め、運命的な絆で結ばれるも、ウンは森深くの滝の麓につくられた神秘的な「氷の城」へ行ったきり、姿を消してしまいます。
人間が誰しも経験する出会い、孤独、別れ、喪失からの回復を、自然の美しさや恐ろしさを感じさせる表現とともに描かれている素晴らしい小説です。

作曲当時、厳しい冬に見舞われた北海道利尻島に住んでおり、北国の厳しい冬にまつわるストーリーを探していたところ、この小説に出会いました。
ウンの失踪を知ったシスから曲は始まり、やがて春になって「氷の城」が瓦解し、シスの心が回復するまでを音楽で表現しています。
この素晴らしい小説の世界観が音楽を通して伝われば幸いです。

演奏上の留意点として、オプショナル楽器を除き最少15人から演奏が可能です。
ティンパニを含む打楽器は6人いることが望ましいですが、打楽器の人数が少ない場合は【Percussion (Alternative) 】パートを用いて1人で演奏することも可能となっています（スコア譜には記譜されていませんが、パート譜が同梱されています）。是非ご活用ください。（下田和輝）

下田和輝(Kazuki Shimoda)

1992年1月14日、岩手県洋野町生まれ。

幼少のころからフュージョンやスムースジャズをはじめさまざまな音楽に触れ、小学校4年生から学校のクラブの金管バンドに所属。コルネットを担当。

洋野町立種市中学校では吹奏楽部に所属し、トランペットを、進学先の岩手県立久慈高校では吹奏楽部でユーフォニアム・学指揮・副学指揮を担当。

中学生のころ、作曲に興味を持ち始める。高校卒業後、作曲を一から学ぶため上京。

平成29年度 第50回JBA「下谷賞」受賞。

現在、吹奏楽の作曲・編曲を中心に活動をしている。

This piece was commissioned by fostermusic Inc. and composed in March 2023.

The composition of this piece was inspired by the novel "The Ice Palace" (1963) by Tarjei Vesaas, a major writer and poet of 20thcentury Norwegian literature.

The novel's setting is a rural town in Norway covered in heavy snow. It tells the story of an 11yearold girl Unn who transferred to the school attended by Siss, another girl of the same age. The two girls grow closer and form a fateful bond. One day, Unn visits a mysterious "ice palace" built at the foot of a waterfall deep in the woods, and she disappears.

This wonderful novel depicts the encounters, loneliness, farewells, and coming to terms with loss experienced by every human being, while also portraying nature in a manner that evokes its beauty and terror.

When composing this piece, I was living on Rishiri Island in Hokkaido amid a harsh winter, and I came across this novel when looking for stories related to the harsh winters of the north.

The piece opens with Siss learning of Unn's disappearance and captures through music the eventual melting of the "ice palace" as spring arrives as well as Siss' emotional recovery.

I hope you can catch a glimpse of the worldview of this wonderful novel through this piece.

This piece assumes 6 musicians on percussion instruments, but you can also make use of the "Percussion (Alternative)" part, which can be played by one person for small ensembles.

It is possible to play from a minimum of 15 people, excluding optional instruments.
