There is a traditional performing art called "tsukumai" in Ryugasaki City of Ibaraki Prefecture.
In "tsukumai," which has been designated as an intangible folk cultural asset of Ibaraki Prefecture, male dancers dressed in tree frog costumes perform a variety of feats on poles and ropes to pray for rain, good harvest, and to ward off disease.
This "tsukumai" is actually related to Fuku the tree frog, a legend that has been passed down in Ryugasaki.
Fuku was a giant frog that supposedly lived in Ryugasaki once upon a time.
According to legend, the frog swallowed water during floods and spat it out during droughts to create rain, thus helping the farmers of Ryugasaki.
It is also said that "tsukumai" is a rainmaking dance that seeks to depict the way in which the frog climbs up the back of a dragon.
This piece is entitled "Fantasia Suijinryua" because both the "ryu" (dragon), which is also in the city's name Ryugasaki, and the "a" (frog) Fuku, are "suijin" (water deities) important to the people.
I hope you can imagine the world in this legend and capture the dynamism of dragons and frogs in your performance.
