オーボエを浜道晁、作曲を有馬礼子の各氏に師事する。現在、吹奏楽やオーケストラなど作編曲活動をする。また、演奏にパフォーマンスやコメディーを加えたアンサンブルポアールで演奏活動をする。

1999年朝日作曲賞、2003年下谷作曲賞、2007,2012,2013年下谷奨励賞、2010年日本管打吹奏楽学会アカデミー賞作曲部門など受賞する。

2001年国民文化祭、2008年全国高校総合文化祭の創作音楽を手掛けている。

This piece was commissioned by fostermusic Inc. and composed in October 2022.

In writing this piece, I thought it would be nice to make the piece easier to understand by allowing the audience to be directly exposed to the sounds and phrases while avoiding program music that seeks to portray a story or some other narrative, so I incorporated my own musical style into the classical form. Each movement in the piece has unique characteristics, which I hope can be fully captured by the performance. I have also made it easy to grasp the tonal variation and phrasing in each movement. The fourth movement, "Gigue," is composed of alternating 6/8 and 2/4 sections that are inspired by a film depicting a gigue dance with a single violin as accompaniment.

The chords of the piece have been arranged such that each part can be played by a single person or by small groups of 10 or fewer people. For percussion, the 1st part should take precedence in the performance, followed by the 2nd and 3rd parts, in that order. When performing the piece in a competition, you may wish to omit either of the two middle movements, even though it is possible to perform all four movements in their entirety in under 7 minutes.
