眠るヴィシュヌの木
この曲は滝川第二高等学校の委嘱により作曲しました。 生涯、神話の価値について語り続け、その広大な思想を作品として数多く残すジョセフ・キャンベルという神話学者がいました。キャンベルによれば、古今東西の英雄神話は必ず"日常から始まり、非日常へ旅立ち、何らかの儀式を経て元の場所に戻ってくる"という法則に基づいているといいます。神話の中で困難なものに人生をかけて挑戦し、成し遂げる広大な物語は宇宙のようとされ、著書でも「神話とは宇宙の歌、人間の意識にしみこんだ音楽である」とも述べられています。 そんな宇宙と神話、音楽までの関連性を解いた彼の書籍の中で、最高神の一人ヴィシュヌが登場します。ヴィシュヌは眠れる神で、彼のたたずむ木からは聖なる力や恩寵の象徴である蓮の花が浮かびます。幻想的な神ヴィシュヌの見る夢は宇宙そのものであり、この世界で起こっていることは、すべてヴィシュヌの夢の中だと言われています。 曲も神秘的な世界に存在する神ヴィシュヌ、そしてその夢の中で繰り広げられる広大な宇宙の大冒険やドラマを表しています。仕様

樽屋雅徳(Masanori Taruya)
1978年千葉県銚子市生まれ。武蔵野音楽大学音楽学部作曲学科卒業。佐藤博、宮本良樹各氏に師事。
フランスで吹奏楽曲「Ardent Overture」を出版。代表作として「絵のない絵本」「民衆を導く自由の女神」「マゼランの未知なる大陸への挑戦」「ラザロの復活」「マードックからの最後の手紙」などがある。
全国の吹奏楽団やマーチングバンドからの委嘱も数多く、その作品の多くが国内外問わず広く演奏され、日本でもっとも人気のある作曲家のひとりである。また、作曲・編曲の傍ら、吹奏楽指導やコンクール等の審査員、執筆活動などでも多くの成果を挙げている。
2004年～2018年まで銚子市立銚子高等学校の音楽監督を務めマーチングコンテストで全国大会へ、吹奏楽コンクールでは東関東大会、東日本大会へと導く。
現在はベルモンテウィンドオーケストラの指揮者・音楽監督を務め、指導者としても高い評価を受けている。

This piece was commissioned by Takigawa Daini High school.
According to Joseph Campbell, the scholar of mythology who had spoken of the value of myths throughout his life and left behind an extensive range of ideas through his many works, all ancient and modern heroic myths across Eastern and Western traditions are based on the template of the hero "starting from his everyday life, taking a journey through the extraordinary, and returning to the original place after undergoing some form of ritual." Campbell has suggested that the epic narrative of challenging and overcoming difficulties in life is akin to the story of the universe, and that for him, "mythology is the song of the universe, the music embedded in our collective consciousness."
One of Campbell's works in which he analyzes the relationship between the universe, mythology, and music features the supreme god Vishnu. Vishnu is said to be a sleeping creator with everything that happens in the world part of his dream and the lotus flowers blooming in his woods a symbol of his sacred power and grace.
This piece portrays the god Vishnu in a mysterious world, as well as the epic adventures and drama of the vast universe that unfold in his dreams.
